his is a cover for topcow's new series called the angelus....its the golden apple variant to iss one...
believe it or not these two chicks are lesbians...well at least one is and the other is bi-curious and is semi dating the les...good stuff..
so wit that said, i needed to have that "feeling/mood" incorporated in the pic...i think the arch of the lower girls back says a lot, combined with her shoulders inward giving a sensual feel to her and let the reader know that...i also have her on all fours for two reasons, one for the sexy look to help with the sense of seductiveness...and the other is cause she fits better down there and gives room for the angelus (girl wit wings) to be bigger...witch is always good cause the bigger the figure the more it pops...by rule of thumb.
i didnt draw the blacks on a smaller photo copy of this in marker like i SHOULD have, because the end result was not what i was going for. i wanted an up lighting effect and felt its not clear on this, or at least its not at the level that i would like it to be...i needed more black on the angelus's "bent" leg, and more on her abdominal area. like there is on her right hand and right wing.... that will teach me....
the reasoning for using a sharpy.....especially for me is cause i like drawing a lot of detail and when the detial is already drawn....its hard to...as they say..."kill ur children"...meaning...u have to kill what u already spent SO much time on....that u get married to it and hate to see it die....so this method helps with that problem....u put black with a blunt tip, like a marker...and u are free to be bold
i typically like to portray iconic poses with badass characters...it makes them seem like they are unstoppable and untouchable...plus it just looks cool...standard things i like to keep in mind is the boastful...chest "puffed" out...shoulders back....even weight...even arms and legs look...even weight i think is important cause it makes the figure look immovable...and thats badass..
im pretty happy with the faces...i hate drawing them and this time they seemed to pose no prob for me....yay!
all the scales were a PAIN in my ass....mmmm....ass.....and this is thanks to the master painter "stephan seijic" ...he has a texture brush that puts all the scales in with one stroke...it was very difficult to interpret...
i feel i still kept the trade mark "eBas" sex appeal on more of a tough character and it feels pretty good at the end of the day
i managed to show a lil "hip" ass...and that makes me happy as some of u devoted followers know...
Oh this is my favorite cover so far that I've seen from Angelus, it's awesome to see it here! The pencils are just gorgeous, and I can only imagine what a pain the scales were. Beautiful work!
I've got a question -what's a sharpy?
It reminds me Kerrigan from SC
