Zenescope's wasting cash going to EVERY convention.
They run contests a couple of years in a row paying for a round trip to SDCC to some random girl who had nothing to do with the creation of the comics.
They rent a bar and host a party at Philly and give away cash prizes for cosplayers.
They pay their cover artists before they even think about considering paying the interior artists. While that doesn't sound all that bad, keep in mind they're paying top dollar for their covers, and they had countless variants for each issue. And the thing that really sticks in your craw regarding the cover artists is when you have guys like Ebas saying shit like "If you aren't willing to sacrifice for your art, then you need to quit and become a dishwasher." Easy to say when you're the one getting paid.

Easy to say when your the one getting paid? I hate to rain on your parade but Ebas didn't start off at the top. Yes, Ebas is now one of the people getting paid but he paid his dues just like every other top artist out there. Nobody starts out at the top and that is what the "if you aren't willing to sacrifice for your art, quit and become a dishwasher" means. In order to reach the level that these artists are at, it requires a lot of sacrifice. Sure, every once in awhile an artist comes around that catapults to the top with very little sacrifice. That is the exception and I guarantee 99% of the artists that become highly successful, had to sacrifice plenty in order to get there.

As for Zenescope wasting cash, going to conventions is not a waste of money. In fact, its one of the smartest things a comic company can do. The sheer number of people that now visit comic con's is insane. In regards to advertising, there is no better use of a companies money than hitting up all of the popular comic con's. Not going to the major con's would be a HUGE mistake on Zenescope's part.

Its clear you know very little about this industry, or business in general. Its probaly why your here posting on DA and the people behind Zenescope are busy running a successful comic company.
